Therapuetic Massage/
Relaxation Massage

Massage is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, promote relaxation and well-being and as a recreational activity.

Massage involves working and acting on the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving – tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids.

Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well aslymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system.

Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, or feet.

In professional settings massage involves the client being treated while lying on a massage table, sitting in a massage chair, or lying on a mat on the floor. The massage subject may be fully or partially clothed.

Sports Massage

Sports massage keeps the body in balance and can assist in treating sports related injuries.

If you have previously had injuries due to sporting activity, you may have developed scar tissue in the area of the inury. One of the results of this can be the development of tight muscles which may manifest itself as pain and discomfort.

Massage can help realign the muscle fibres. The health and function of the muscle can be restored and subsequently pain will decrease or be eliminated completely.

A programme of regular sports  massage will keep the muscle groups in optimum condition and maximise your ability to perform at your chosen activity in the long-term.

Tibetan Massage

Tibetan Massage is a therapy that has been practised for thousands of years in Tibet and the Himalayan region of Asia. It is considered an integral part of Tibetan medicine.

During a tibetan massaage, the masseur will concentrate on specific parts of the body which relate to the illness that is requiring treatment.

Tibetan massage is also an excellent way to promote relaxation within the body where no illnesses or ailments are present.

Some conditions that can be treated with tibetan massage include stress, back-pain, women's health problems, poor circulation and muscular pain. This list is not exhaustive however so please contact me if you require any further information.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialised massage technique where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body.

The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work deeper, much quicker than if no stones were used.

The stones are placed into a purpose-built Stone Heater which is filled with water.

The water is typically heated to 50-53 degrees Celsius. Once the stones have heated sufficiently, some are placed onto specific points on the body (such as the back, hands, etc.) and others are held by the massage therapist and used to work the muscles.

Hot stone massage can aid relaxation, improve circulation, recharge your energy levels and improve your sense of well-being.
